MSNBC axes Alec Baldwin late night show

2013-11-27_1051Officially it’s a “mutual parting” but MSNBC has axed Alec Baldwin’s late night show Up Late in the US.

It follows his outburst at a paparazzo, which he denied was a homophobic slur and a two week suspension by the cable broadcaster.

The network and Baldwin’s representative Matthew Hiltzik confirmed: “We are jointly confirming that Up Late will not continue on MSNBC.”

“This is a mutual parting and we wish Alec all the best,” an MSNBC rep noted in a statement.

“I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have — and for that I am deeply sorry,” Baldwin said in a statement at the time. “Words are important. I understand that and will choose mine with great care going forward.”
