  1. Its unlikely Nine’s or any main channel will be in HD as early as 2014 – there are still people with SD only tuners and the networks would not want to lose those viewers.

Having said that though, there is the likelihood of more sports being aired on HD channels from next year which Nine have eluded to.

  2. @Aussie_Austridge

    sport in decline?

apart from finals, and the state of origin, Cricket outrates AFL and NRL in Australia with ease….

showing the recent test matches again England, on a secondary channel, for a game that started at 8pm… still pulled in 700k viewers….

I can remember many a AFL game this year getting 300k on seven.

so what the game is in summer?

guess that means networks can’t support tennis or soccer either, cos they are played in the summer tooo

Throwing all that money down the drain for a sport in decline played out of ratings during the silly season is a source of pride? Says it all, really.

  4. I thought their main channel was supposedly going to be the HD channel from next year though?

And, anyway, GEM might technically be HD, but it’s terrible compared to Fox Sports
