Former Spartacus star Liam McIntyre joins Rebecca Gibney for her 2014 drama The Killing Field.

2013-12-01_0048A surprise piece of casting here with former Spartacus star Liam McIntyre to join Rebecca Gibney for her 2014 Seven drama The Killing Field.

McIntyre replaced the late Andy Whitfield in the title role for the US Starz network.

News Corp reports he will play ladies man detective ‘Dan Wild’, who “needs to learn a few things before he can make the next level as a detective but he has a lot of fun doing it”.

Gibney plays the head of a special police task force sent to a small country town to investigate a shocking crime.

The synopsis details: “The team must delve into the closed lives of a seemingly quaint hamlet in order to find and outwit a killer. As inquiries progress, the pressure of the investigation turns neighbour on neighbour and long held secrets are revealed. But no one feels the pressure more than the head of this elite team of Homicide Detectives as she battles to bring a killer to justice.”

She is also a producer.

Prior to his stardom in Spartacus, McIntyre had appearances in Rush, Neighbours and The Pacific.
