When Play School did this in 2004, there was an uproar.
But on the weekend the The Disney Channel made history in the US by introducing the first openly gay characters on the children’s network.
The characters were a lesbian couple who dropped off their child for a play-date in the latest episode of hit kid’s show, Good Luck Charlie.
The storyline sees the show’s parents Amy and Bob Duncan (Leigh-Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer) set up a play-date for their preschooler Charlie (Mia Talerico) and one of her new friends. When the friend arrives to play, the family discover she has two mothers, Susan and Cheryl.
Disney said the episode was developed to be “relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness.”
Lobby website One Million Moms has now threatened to boycott the show and the channel for its plans “to corrupt the children’s channel with LGBT content’.

J Bar I have heard of it only because I have a niece who watches Saturday Disney.
Dr_Rudi very funny (funny because it’s true).
I know its most likely due to copy and pasting, but in Australia its’ spelt Mum.
No it was deliberate. Disney has moms.
The boycott will be great publicity for a show that nobody has heard of. 😆
I reckon there would be One Million Dads really keen on the after-hours spin-off “Susan and Cheryl”.
umm One Million Moms boycotting the show? I doubt they have ever seen the show or anything else on the Disney Channel as they aren’t real moms…just some religious women with chips on their shoulders.
