Appointments include a new Channel Manager for ABC2 and Executive Producer at Media Watch.

2013-05-02_1210ABC TV has announced three key appointments for ABC2, Factual and Media Watch.

Edwina Waddy becomes Channel Manager for ABC2. She has been a Development Producer and Executive Producer for ABC TV Factual with credits including the development and commissioning of ABC2’s Opening Shot series and production of the Sunday Best slot.

“I’m delighted Edwina will be joining our programming team as the Channel Manager for ABC2, alongside Amber Tomlinson as Channel Manager for ABC1, said Brendan Dahill, Head of Programming, ABC1 & ABC2. “It speaks volumes about the talent we have here at the ABC that we have appointed Channel Managers from within our own ranks.”

Waddy begins the new role on February 3.

She will be replaced by Andrea Ulbrick as the new Commissioning Editor ABC TV Factual.

She comes to the ABC after working in the independent sector with companies such as Heiress Films, Serendipity Productions / Artemis International, Essential Media, Shine Australia, Screenworld and Fremantle Media, and titles for ABC TV, SBS, CBC, Arte France, BBC, Channel 4, WNET, National Geographic and Discovery.

Andrea Ulbrick commences at ABC TV on January 13.

Phil Craig, Head of Factual at ABC TV said: “Although we’re sad to be losing Edwina from the department, it’s great to see her advance her career in this way and we wish her all the best in her new position. She will be replaced as commissioning editor by Andrea Ulbrick who brings a great wealth of experience and expertise into this new role and I’m very much looking forward to working with her.”

Meanwhile Tim Latham, Executive Producer of ABC’s RN Breakfast, will become the new Executive Producer of Media Watch, replacing Lin Buckfield who joins her partner in New York.

Latham has been Executive Producer of Breakfast with Fran Kelly and has spent the last 15 years working in ABC Radio on various programs.

“It has been a great eight years with Breakfast and I’m really proud of the show we have created. This is an opportunity to do something different and I am looking forward to working with Paul Barry and the Media Watch team and of course not getting up at 4am every day!

“I’m also looking forward to making the change from radio to television; 2014 is a critical year for the media as all mediums try to make sense of the changing landscape.”

Director of ABC Television Richard Finlayson said: “I would like to thank Lin for her leadership and contribution to Media Watch over the past three years. It’s a tough position and I respect the way she has handled every challenge along the way.

“Tim is an excellent appointment for this role given his extensive producing and leadership experience at the helm of one of Australia’s most respected radio programs. I have no doubt he will bring the same tenacity and enthusiasm to Media Watch.”

He begins in mid-February.
