Happy New Year!

Returning shows, big events and technical change -there's plenty in store for TV in 2014.

2013-12-31_1946Happy New Year, everyone!

I hope 2014 is a happy, healthy and prosperous one for you.

This year includes plenty of new and returning programmes and big events including the FIFA World Cup, Winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Eurovision in Denmark.

We will also see the launch of HbbTV, the new BBC deal with Foxtel from mid year, a new iQ3, later TV ratings, binge premieres on iView, FreeviewPlus EPG, more local content on multichannels and increased captions from mid year.

Barbara Walters will retire, Jackie Woodburne and Alan Fletcher celebrate 20 years on Neighbours, we’ll see 24, Puberty Blues and Spicks and Specks return, Jimmy Fallon replaces Jay Leno, there’s a Monty Python reunion, a Sharknado sequel, a Spooks movie begins shooting, and the US version of Rake.

This month is also Awards time with with AACTA Awards and Golden Globes, ahead of the Oscars, ASTRAs and Logies.

And once again, TV Tonight will endeavour to keep you entertained and informed throughout.

Now go have a Bex and a lie down. We’ve got a lot to get through yet!

  1. My wish for 2014 is that this is the year Richard Wilkins is nominated for the Gold Logie with: David Koch, Fatty Vautin, Johanna Griggs, Geoff Jowett from the Bodytrim advertorials & of course the eventual winner, Giggle, but not Hoot

  2. After the 2 recent attacks that have happened in Russia I will admit that I am actually looking forward to Sochi now. Hopefully these terrible attacks will peak interest from people like myself who are strangely fascinated by this sort of stuff. I really want 2014 to be the year that Ten start to make a real comeback and maybe Channel 7 might see a few more flops than in previous years.

Happy New Year to you David! 🙂

  3. Happy New Year!

Hopefully there will be some new series worth watching airing in 2014. We keep losing great shows but nothing much good seems to replace them.
