My Kitchen Rules contestant injured in diving accident

Victorian MKR contestant fractures two vertebrae in his neck after a diving accident.

2014-01-16_0007A contestant from the upcoming Reality series My Kitchen Rules has been injured in a diving accident.

Harry Curtis, who competes for Victoria in the Seven series, fractured two vertebrae in his neck after an accident at Sandringham Beach late on Tuesday afternoon.

The injuries occurred when Curtis, 25, dived from a bollard while swimming with friends.

In a statement, Seven said he was transferred to the Alfred Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition, and he will undergo surgery today. His spinal cord was not damaged.

Curtis appears with his friend Christo Gibson in Group Two of the series. All episodes of the cooking show have been completed, but it means Curtis will be out of action for some time for promotional opportunities.

In the MKR press kit, Curtis admits he was constantly getting into trouble whilst growing up.

“I’m sort of like the vacuum,” Harry laughs. “Anyone who sits around me gets sucked in.

“We were always up to mischief,” says his teammate Christo.
