NBC has approved the US adaptation of The Slap as an eight-episode miniseries.

NBC has approved the US adaptation of The Slap as an eight-episode miniseries.
Based on the acclaimed 2011 series, which was in turn based on the 2008 novel by Christos Tsiolkas, the new version will be written by Brothers & Sisters creator Jon Robin Baitz.
Baitz and Matchbox Picture’s Tony Ayres will executive produce the series for Universal TV with Walter Parkes, Laurie MacDonald and Ted Gold.
In the story the slap inflicted upon a misbehaving child pulls a family apart, and ignites a lawsuit that challenges the core American values of all who are pulled into it.
Tony Ayres previously told TV Tonight, “We are thrilled to be working with such accomplished producers as Parkes Macdonald, and excited to see how the premise of The Slap which really is universal in its reach and effect, will translate in particular into the American context.”
There’s no word of who might appear in the cast or when it may play out.
The Slap is the latest in a growing list of ABC productions enjoying US adaptations including Rake, Lowdown, A Moody Christmas, Review with Myles Barlow and The Straits.

Can’t see this working over there, our version of The Slap had so many little intricate parts that were very relatable
Be interesting to see how it is done over there though
I was wondering how well the others did…or did they go the way of Kath and Kim…lost in translation….
I chat to many overseas…we all speak English…but very differently…translating our way of speaking and ideas…not always easy.
