Oops. “Third time lucky” in Nine News technical meltdown.

Video: Frozen videos and endless commercials, as QTQ9 News wraps 24 minutes early after a string of mishaps.

Nine News Brisbane last night suffered a massive technical meltdown which trimmed the one-hour bulletin trimmed to just 36 minutes.

In a series of painful mishaps, presenter Melissa Downes threw not once, but three times, to commercials after video kept freezing.

“Things aren’t going quite to plan so we are going to have to take another commercial break,” she admitted.

Sport, introduced by Wally Lewis, never surfaced at all.

“We are hoping for third time lucky….” she continued.

Eventually it was decided to present the weather and cut their losses.

“Thank you for your patience, we promise you we will be back with our full bulletin tomorrow night.”

At least Downes wasn’t frazzled by the disasters and remained professional throughout.

Corrected.

  1. Melissa Downes handle it brilliantly.
@Pete 7 and 9 in Brisbane persist in using ex-sporting favourites rather than journalists – big mistake, as is Matt Burke on Ten Sydney.

  2. I am holidaying in Queensland and Melissa is really good. Unfortunately, king Wally may be queenslands favourite son, but he looks awkward and nervous reading the sport despite doing it for years.

  3. Don’t know why they didn’t just play Sydney News, given the DST time delay. It was the same, as far as one could see. But those earrings……please, no.

  4. Oh yes, I felt so sorry for her, every newsreaders nightmare. But she handled it like a pro, a lot better than others have in the same situation. I was on the phone for the last bit of it and next thing ACA came on, and I thought oh they must have given up.
