Reality TV judge’s U-Turn
Reality TV has always been about manipulation...

I’ve mentioned before that Reality TV has always been about manipulation -whether on or off the camera.
Yesterday Australia’s Next Top Model judge Charlotte Dawson tweeted a major retreat from the modelling industry.
I truly adored my time on ANTM but my heart tells me I don’t think young girls should pursue the Modelling world.

Bring it! Hypocrisy since I was a 16 year old that began my career but I can no longer be a part of this machine.

I want to make it clear ANTM exercise the greatest duty of care with all contestants. I’ve merely had a change of heart. New beginnings!

This comes despite previous news that her contract had not been renewed by Foxtel, that she would be winding up her media commitments to focus on real estate, parting ways with her agent.
I’m on the record as having said that Dawson’s work on Australia’s Next Top Model fulfilled the brief well, playing the good-humoured, ‘cruel to be kind’ Reality TV judge.
But today the audience who bought into the premise, and Foxtel which demonstrated loyalty through some particularly rocky times, must be finding this change of heart rather perplexing.
Yesterday Foxtel politely indicated to TV Tonight that ANTM was proceeding.
