US procedural Bones has been renewed for an impressive tenth season.
While FOX entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly recently said that he expected a 10th and “likely” final season, there is no confirmation of finality.
“Over the course of nine seasons, Bones has grown from a hit crime procedural into a beloved pillar of our lineup that resonates with fans in a way that only the best of shows can,” said Reilly. “Our viewers have embraced Emily [Deschanel], David [Boreanaz] and the entire cast and characters of Bones as their very own, and I think they are going to love what Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan have planned for season 10.”
In the US the show is averaging a solid 2.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 8.6 million viewers.
It airs in Australia on Seven but no word on new episodes just yet.

Looking forward to more bones. I think its actually gotten better since booth and bones got together.
Great news, I love Bones. While it can be a bit gruesome, there are humorous bits that lighten the mood. Usually characters getting married and having a baby is the death knell for a show, especially a crime drama, but it doesn’t seem to have affected Bones.
Perhaps the cast have inked multi year contracts and thus no final season announcement yet? Or maybe the announcement is still to come.
Bones is one of the few procedurals of this type I watch, wish Seven would bring it back.
The average figures are misleading. Halfway through the season Bones was moved to 8pm Fridays so FOX could launch Almost Human on Mondays. Almost Human looks like it may just scrape renewal but Bones’ lost half its audience dropping to 1.5 (18-49s) last week.
Bones will probably get a better slot next year and rate well enough to be renewed. The issue with the show is how long the cast want to keep going, and how much FOX is prepared to pay them to do so.
Was that last sentence, for me? LOL
Hardly surprising because there are not many new programmes, worth watching.
