22 Comments:

  1. I’m wondering if the ratings will be up or down “tomorrow” for the former The 7.30 Report. Because on Wednesday they admitted on the News that a politician (from a major party of the spin doctoring type) was going to show up next. So I’m curious if that counts as promotion or a disincentive. I don’t claim to know the answer.

But I do remember when SBS advertised politicians on The Observer Effect the numbers dropped. Although the ABC audience isn’t the SBS one completely.

For the record I do think it important for the politicians to show up and be questioned. All I’m wondering is it a good idea to admit it sometimes beforehand.

  2. Home and Away will continue to rate if they let that new hot doctor walk around with just a towel on.

Loved the episode of winners and losers and its so great having parenthood back on.

  3. Maybe So you think you can dance will be seen as kinda different because the 3 reality shows at the moment are nothing more than manufactured crap featuring people with no skill whatsoever

  4. Yep ten refuse to wake up and realise that they need to strip the biggest looser master chef and their other reality shows to 30 minute episodes 7pm monday to friday and say 6:30pm sunday they are simply not going to beat the block and my bitchin rules big brother etc

  5. cynical old codger

Because of my vintage some may say my needle is stuck in a faulty groove of one of my old vinyl’s, and even I know if I try restarting back in the first groove of the same record, and regardless of spending heaps of $$$ on a top shelf sound system, filters and routers etc, that bloody needle is always going to get stuck in that same groove.
So even if I lift it into the next groove following each faulty groove, that same bloody needle is always doomed to end up going around and around, eventually obliterating the colourful fancy label that attracted me in the first place.
Hence my previous claim that Network 7’s chickens are slowly come home to roost and ‘7’ eventually suffering a similar downfall,as that of Network 10, from ‘can do no wrong’ to regardlessly unable to get it right

  6. bettestreep2008

What TBL needs to improve ratings is for a couple of stick thin super models to come on the show and just sit there and insult the contestants.

Works for MKR – and Australians are just loving the bitching and cattiness of that pathetic show.

And No – I do not watch MKR – but did get a gutfull of promos while watching the tennis so I think I can comment on it.

  7. Great to see MKR on top. Its a superior show to the rest of the reality shows on TV right now. Good to see The Big Bang Theory do well too. It is by far the best comedy on the box. Ouch for The Biggest Loser. Its title says it all. Home and Away is doing a lot better early on this year. I guess the shift from The Block is helping it gain some viewers. Winners and Losers did well last night too.

Today Tonight finally returns to 1/2 hour and whats this? It beats Nine News, Seven News and ACA. Funny how people were calling for it to be axed including myself, not because of ratings but because its rubbish tv along with ACA. No wonder Seven keeps it.

  8. Im suspecting the reason BL is flopping is that the audience just does not want a choice of 3 reality programs form 3 FTA commercial networks – One network is a leader and the other 2 are followers …. and it doesnt work …..

  9. Agree that H&A is the big winner out of the ACA shuffle – yes the plot lines are awful but the show looks darn slick.

I would say W&L is the big loser of the night, huge drop from its lead in. I watched both last night and it’s basically H&A in an hour form.

  10. With Nine splitting its news into two and the ABC listing a newsbreak to get into The Top Twenty it is now a top 18, which Ten only just managed to scrap into.

Interesting that with MKR and TBBT getting such good numbers, the secondary channels are still doing record business.

  11. Good for 7! Wow TBL isn’t doing well ten must be hitting themselfs. Is TBL on Thursday?? Going to be a ratings loss for ten sorry to say! Thanks David 🙂

  12. The current Home and Away storylines are so ridiculous it makes Neighbours look better. Neighbours storylines at the moment are more realistic and relatable than H&A’s.

  13. TEN’s Biggest Loser flopped so badly, MKR 2 days in a row at No.1, Today Tonight beat A Current Affair with help from it’s World Exclusive. What a night!
