Dave Madden, best known as band manager ‘Reuben Kincaid’ on The Partridge Family, has died, aged 82.
Madden died in Florida of congestive heart and kidney failure.
Madden appeared as the long-suffering manager from 1970 to 1974 on the US sitcom, frequently paired with Danny Bonaduce’s character, ‘Danny Partridge.’
Dave Madden was a great guy & like family to me. He taught me to drive a car when I was 10. One of many great memories. I’ll truly miss him.

Shirley Jones said Madden made the show.
“His relationship with Danny Bonaduce is what made the show work: this strange, mad little boy and the grown man who was even worse as a father figure,” she said this week. “It was hysterical!”
Prior to The Partridge Family, Madden was part of the Laugh-In ensemble, and had a recurring role on the long-running sitcom Alice.
Other credits included Camp Runamuck, Herman’s Head, Love American Style, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Bewitched, Married With Children, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and more recently did voice work for videogame The Curse of Monkey Island.

Another favourite childhood show of mine. he was definitely needed on that show, he and Danny provided the humour and became the stars.
David Cassidy, what a crush I had on him!
Loved The Partridge Family. So we lost two people from from two of my all time favorite shows today.
What a generous remark by the lovely Shirley Jones. Dave and Danny were the comic foils in much of the series’ plots, and she is right, he was a surrogate father figure for the kid. He had such great comic timing and expressions. For some reason his guest appearance on Bewitched as a mechanic has stayed with me; the receipient of Endora’s hijinks.
