16 Comments:

  1. P.S. I’d also like to thank the ABC for The Seven-Per-Cent Solution afterwards. I have no complaints about films late at night or in the afternoon. Because that’s when they can be treated right so I can watch them. I’m very glad and grateful for it.

  2. I do want to thank the ABC very much for allowing me the privilege of being able to watch Four Corners and Media Watch repeats. Without any stressful stuff included. I may not like the spoilers on the News but I do fear the day where I won’t be able to take the channel based computer graphics.

Speaking of computer graphics I just want to say I think whomever decided and designed the computer graphics for Four Corners did a wonderful job. They have to be one of the most tasteful and easiest to take computer graphics this century. Thank you so much for that. Although I don’t look forward to it changing. That’s how much I like it.

  3. I am talking about the last series of The Block, which aired midway through last year. Although, maybe that one was helped by not having MKR and being coupled with The Voice.

I still think 2 seasons is a bad move, especially with 7 having House Rules, which is kind of like having 3 seasons.

    • That’s not how we read ratings. Winter is always higher across the board, that’s why shows like The Voice are on then. You have to compare Year on Year via calendar weeks. You also need to factor in a timeslot change, and yes the competition.

  4. I don’t know why people are saying the block is doing bad its actually doing just fine and I think it’s doing quite well considering it doesn’t have the 30 min head start it has had in previous years and the ratings are up on last year. I can’t stand MKR but have to give congrats on the ratings.

  5. But just saying The Block is “down on last year” does not actually make it so.

Let’s look at corresponding weeks for both 2013 / 2014 in overnight figures:

    Mon: 2013 959,000 / 2014 1.12m
    Tues: 2013 952,000 / 2014 1.03m
    Wed: 2013 cricket / 2014
    Thu: 2013 858,000 / 2014

A reminder my site offers a comprehensive, user-friendly archive and a search facility for this very reason, thanks.

  6. The problem with the Block is that it’s just boring this year. Also the fans don’t have as much charisma as previous seasons and the favs getting another chance to win even more big bucks grates. It’s three reasons not to watch, whereas MKR is hitting home runs

  7. The Block isn’t doing too well, it’s down from last year, and well behind MKR. Plus, there is still another series to go, and Sven has House Rules. If the numbers don’t improve, then I can see it heading the same way as MCA.

  8. When the Winter Olympics start this Friday night – late, our TV will stay on ONE and now and again Ten, depending what sport is covered. Everything else will be recorded such as MKR etc. 🙂

Smartest thing ever from 7 to can current affair rubbish. Better to see real news covered properly or a comedy perhaps.

  9. Completely agree with you BarrieT! That’s what I kept saying last night. Especially the repeated footage of him ruining cream after cream because he was to busy singing FFS!!!!!

  10. I knew those WA bitches couldn’t cook. 42 countries and what do they do for entree – cheese on toast. They got the scores they deserved. Glad to see Andrew & Emelia go. He just wanted to be on TV.

  11. Wow MKR wiping the floor with everything else. More than doubled The Block. The big bash game did very well too. Tonights sydney stars v perth game should do just as well.

  12. Omg that’s one hell of a machine show ! To pull up such numbers !!
Can’t wait for the Sunday showdown between SYTYCD and MKR after seeing this I’m even more excited !!
How did million dollar minute go? I doubt that’s gonna make it to the end of the year:/
