Foxtel disappointed Charlotte Dawson quit Top Model via Twitter

"I'm disappointed she didn't pick up the phone and tell me of her decision but she has her reasons," says Brian Walsh.

2013-09-13_0014Foxtel’s Director of Television is disappointed he had to learn that Charlotte Dawson was quitting Australia’s Next Top Model via Twitter.

Last month she advised host Jennifer Hawkins that she could not continue with the show, where she had been the “tough love” judge for 8 seasons.

Walsh told TV Tonight, “I’ve written to her and acknowledged that she’s no longer interested in being part of the show. She corresponded with Jennifer Hawkins and told her that, and I’ve obviously read the subsequent stories in the media. So I’ve dropped her a not to thank her for her contribution to the company and for the terrific job she did on Australia’s Next Top Model.

“I respect her decision.”

Dawson’s comments about young girls entering the industry “machine” appear to contradict the premise of Top Model, which has been Foxtel’s most enduring local series.

“She’s a strongly opinionated person and she has her views and uses social media as her voice. It’s the way that she likes to communicate,” said Walsh.

“I’m disappointed she didn’t pick up the phone and tell me of her decision but she has her reasons and I respect those whatever they might be.

“I wish her well.”

Last week Top Model’s Jennifer Hawkins, Alex Perry and Didier Cohen were all nominated for ASTRA Awards, but Dawson does join them under consideration in Logie nominations.

  1. Don’tcha love it when people say they are “disappointed” in situations like this, why not say what they really feel, bloody furious.

    And who’s Charlotte Dawson?
