Axed US action series Heroes is to get a second lease of life as a 13 episode miniseries.
Creator Tim Kring is on board for the project, expected to arrive in 2015.
Details of the plot are being kept under wraps.
The series which ran from 2006-2010, helped launch the careers of Zachary Quinto, Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere, among others.
“The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke.
“Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”
Sounds like fun!

If you mean the new version, it hasn’t even been made yet.
Any word if Heroes will return to Seven?
Meh. NBC is desperate.
So strange. I don’t think I’m very interested. I enjoyed the first series then after that it really just couldn’t keep up with its own mythology.
I got excited for a minute, I thought it was a remake of Hogans Heroes. That comedy that is still funny today
I like the idea. The concept of Heroes was originally to have a new bunch of characters each season then NBC changed their mind when it was a smash hit. I think this could work and i look forward to seeing what NBC do with it. I guess this has come about because of all the Marvel stuff popping up lately.
As long as it’s like the first 1½ seasons and not the made-up-as-they-went-along mess that followed.
as i recall, heroes on 24 were paired for a period on 7, then paired again on 7two, now they are both returning. It is an odd show to select to give a 2nd life. 75% of its first life it was a flop.
I would love to see Lost get a second life, even just a telemovie, so many strings left untied, so many ideas that could be pursued. and that was rating very well in america when it ended.
Loved the 1st season, but the 2nd season was woeful (impacted by the writer’s strike I believe) and didn’t watch any of it after the first couple of episodes of the 2nd season.
Considering how Heroes started to tank on Seven in it’s later seasons, I’m guessing Seven won’t be too keen to pick this up
Still waiting for more news about the Charmed reboot…
This is a very strange announcement.
Reviving a show that they cancelled years ago, very atypical Hollywood.
I almost died when I first heard about this! So happy that this is happening! But that is quite a long time to wait :/
