Renewed: RuPaul’s Drag Race

RuPaul’s Drag Race has been renewed for a seventh season.

RuPaul’s Drag Race has been renewed for a seventh season by US cable network LoGo.

The show, which pits drag queens against each other, is the highest-rated show on the gay-themed channel. Its fifth season was viewed by more than 1.3 million viewers and a sixth season is about to begin.

LoGo’s vice president of programming, Pamela Post, said in a statement, “RuPaul’s Drag Race continues to be a perennial fan favorite that has slowly become a pop culture phenomenon attracting a wide-range of viewers.”

RuPaul said of the news, “A new album, a season premiere and the official greenlight for season 7… all in the same week!?! I’m so verklemplt I could plotz.”

The show airs in Australia on LifeStyle You and replays on SBS.

  1. I agree with Walt. Also, if you read the gay press, in say, six to eight months’ time, you will see an event lined up in Sydney, for example, featuring this winner of the show. That’s how I knew that Sharon Needles won S4 months before it aired.

    Stay away from Wikipedia if you don’t want to know who already won S5, which starts on You next Wed.

  2. David, do you know why Lifestyle You air this a full year behind the US? It’s been that way for the past seasons and is about to again with Series 6 starting next week. Seems like a very long delay.

    Also, SBS 2 are airing the All Stars series at the moment which hasn’t aired on Lifestyle You, unfortunately it’s out of sequence to the regular series SBS 2 have been playing (All Stars features contestants that haven’t appeared in what SBS 2 have shown yet). Great show but broadcast has been messy in Australia.

  3. This is one show that Foxtel need to use Express from the US for! It continues to be one of the most underrated shows; nothing is as fun viewing as RuPaul’s Drag Race!
