Returning: Survivor

GO! is set to fast-track Survivor: Cagayan just hours after the US.

2014-01-24_0210More good news for Survivor fans (this is becoming a habit) with GO! set to fast-track Survivor: Cagayan just hours after the US.

It premieres 8:30pm Thursday February 27.

Throughout Survivor’s long run the debate has raged about what quality is of most advantage in playing the game. This season we are set to find out as 18 castaways are divided into three specific tribes: Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty.

Filmed in Cagayan, a stunning and rugged province in the Philippines, each tribe will have six castaways who all share one of these three attributes. But which tribe will emerge the strongest?

Included in the Brawn Tribe are a former NBA All-Stars player, a male and female police officer, and a martial arts instructor. The Brains Tribe boasts a professional poker player, an attorney and a nuclear engineer. Over on the Beauty Tribe are a genetically gifted social worker, an ex-NFL cheerleader and a Miss Kentucky Teen USA winner.

Will the Brains use their expertise at solving puzzles to outsmart the others? Will the Brawns dominate all the challenges due to their physical attributes? Or will the Beauty Tribe be able to use their looks to master the social game?

Whichever tribe triumphs, all 18 castaways will be competing to outwit, outplay and outlast each other and ultimately be crowned the Sole Survivor.

Hosted by Emmy Award winner Jeff Probst, Survivor Cagayan is produced by Probst himself and Mark Burnett.

  1. Great news, glad GO is fast tracking this again. Lets hope they continue this for all future seasons.

I notice 7 have Amazing Race on next week too, so we won’t be too far behind the US. Unlike last season when we didn’t get the finale till a month after it aired over there.

  2. @Sifter I read in an interview with Jeff Probst that the BBB concept only was thought of when casting was almost done, so the producers put each contestant into the tribe that they thought best suited them. Practically it would be hard to find beautiful people who had no brawn, unless you cast underweight catwalk models who don’t eat and have no physical strength.

  3. Once again Nine treats Survivor fans with respect! Very happy that they have done this!

And the fact it has been renewed to season 30 shows the staying power of this… it may be 14 years old but it is still the king of reality shows! And you cannot have the US Survivor without Jeff Probst… it is impossible to have it without him!

  4. Nice work from Nine again, they treated Survivor well last season and I’ll be on board again!

Looking at the cast shots I’m a little disappointed that the 3 stereotypes weren’t represented more obviously ie. if you mixed all 18 people together could you divide them back into their 3 groups easily? Nope. eg. there are still beautiful people on the other 2 teams, and still athletic looking types on the other 2 teams as well, brains to be determined… But it’s a good idea in theory, will be interested to see how it shakes out.

  5. Oh my goodness, Yes!!! I can’t wait for the next season of survior to begin, loved every single season and I look forward for this fast tracked show once again, thank you GO
