  1. @ ryan,

Time zones can be the proverbial pain in the butt.
Over here in the east all we were getting every 3 to 5 minutes was ‘Torah goes for gold at 8;15pm.
They obviously forgot that you sandgropers are currently 3 hours behind the eastern states…..boofheads.

  2. Ha Ha 9 your plan bombed. INXS was great last night and im assuming people will want to see part 2 so the millions will tune in again. Im guessing the 7 execs would be shouting form the rooftops and laughing at 9 while 9 would feel disappointed.

Even I thought Schapelle would rate higher. But 7 had a great night with MKR sunday night and INXS.

The winter Olympics have been great and can I say what a pleasure o watch Roy and HG on again. They do make me laugh.

  3. @Sportz. I didn’t know either that Torah was going for her medal, we were told over and over across the day 8.15pm, no EDST 8.15 just 8.15pm which was when dance finished but when it came on they just go Torah didn’t win the medal! I was like !!!!!
Ten need to promote things better especially if they are Aussies going for gold

  4. @Trev – I go to bed about 1:30am and record both channels – so we miss nothing and the Panasonic DVD-HDD recorder does a brilliant job and is easy to use. Since we are retired we have ONE on during the day, once recordings have been scanned for contents we want to watch. Ten Networks coverage is the best I have seen for a long time and then we keep an eye on the App as well on our tablets. Technology is wonderful these days, now if we had NBN it would be perfect 🙂

  5. @ WolfieBoy,
We may be miles apart when it come to our opinions on the 10 network, but I too have lost interest in those crime dramas and refused to watch the Corby flick for exactly the same reason.
Once again I have to sing the praises of TEN’s Sochi coverage.
It has been a pleasant change being able to watch all, or almost all of various events without the usual 5 minutes of this followed by 3 minutes of that etc. etc. and that Mel bird is a much better sort than Ken Sutcliffe.
I hope your good wife got to see the figure skating short programs, as mine for a change fell sound asleep and missed the lot.

  6. @Mario – so you don’t like Winter Olympics. That’s OK – we are all different but Ten did surprisingly well even without your recorder sitting on Ten or ONE. But all good as I think choice is what makes us happy viewers. 🙂

  7. @David – I know. I am sick of crime shows now and only watch NCIS. So agree totally with your comment. My main objection is drug sellers and courier and with her family background, they are hardly innocent IMHO. That was really why I won’t be watching that show.

Glad she is out though as she has served her time now. 🙂

  8. Wow! What a night for Australian television! All should be congratulated.
Channel Nine-What were you thinking, putting Schapelle on Sunday night. I nearly missed it; nit until 6.15pm did I find out they had switched it from tonight to last night. Deserved the rating you got;How many other people actually missed it. I taped it for another day.
Channel 7- a great night of entertainment. Enjoyed MKR and Sunday. Again taped INXS for another Day.
Channel 2- Rake-this show gets better each year. If you missed, do yourself a favour, and watch it. Fantastic writing, acting, etc. Well done Aunty!!! Maybe you could repeat it on Thursday night at 9.30pm to get the audience it deserves.
Channel 10 -sorry but I can only tape 2 shows at a time, so you missed out. Maybe you should stop putting your New shows up against proven winners. Just a suggestion!!

  9. Since ONE is one of Ten Network’s channels the total is over 1.4Million which is very good for Winter Olympics against such tough competition IMHO.
Glad Corby did not rate that good. Glad she is out now but why make TV shows about real crooks. The world will never get better whilst we do that type of glorifying of not so nice people. Remember drugs kill and ruin young lives after all 🙁
We taped INXS and SYTYCD and watched mostly ONE and enjoyed it. Coverage is excellent and ONE audience is growing. Ten Network must be happy about that. 🙂 For that coverage so far they deserve some accolades.

  10. Enjoyed SYTYCDA, hope the numbers improve in the weeks to come, cannot believe how many people watch My Bitchin Rules and it is on 4 nights a week. Agree with bettestreep 2008 about the Australian audience but saying that, in the UK people watched I’m a celebrity etc 5 nights a week and they watched in their millions, which was one of the reasons why a quality drama like Ripper Street was cancelled, so it may be a worldwide dumbing down strategy by TV execs

  11. Seriously, who was the idiot who thought that dancing show would work? Pretty sure it didn’t work the last time they tried it.

If Torah Bright’s final was shown live everywhere on Ten, it would have beaten Schapelle in the ratings. Okay, it was live on ONE, but I didn’t think it was well advertised that SYTYCD was going to take precedence here in Qld.

They kept telling us to make sure we tune in at 8:15 daylight saving time. Well, I only worked out on Sunday night that it wasn’t actually going to be live on Ten. So I switched to ONE and watched it live there. And look at the ratings. Obviously a lot of other Qlders did the same thing. But how many more people didn’t realise that was an option?

  12. Amazing programming by 7; no joke that’s impeccable looking at the competition !
I expected a lot more variety (channel wise) in the top 5 but clearly 7 swept the floor !!
I feel for ten how ever. The future of SYTYCD is hanging in the balance :/

  13. I think rating single events, especially if they go for 60-75 minutes, is fine. What is tricky about it is that there isn’t necessarily a predetermined start and finish time to single events.

  14. Man, so much to digest in these figures this morning. Firsly congrats Channel 7,There first night headline acts with MKR, Sunday night & INXS payed off big time & there next Sunday as well with the same lineup. I expected INXS to win over Schapelle but not quite by the margin/size it did. If 9 had put Schepelle on tonightas first set they would have got 1.2-1.3 million but I could see the airline doco originally set for last night getting worst numbers then Schepelle did.

I think SYTYCDA ratings can build over the coming weeks due to the big guns outs last night, but that didn’t help the dance show they did in 2012 when it went against the Olympics.

Anyway the spin doctors at each network will be in overdrive this morning.

  15. Enjoyed SYTYCD. A quality production, constructive judges, a pleasant host who didn’t make the show about herself (hello there Grant Denyer) and wonderful dancing.

Shame Ten management decided to throw the show into the lions den to be absolutely slaughtered.

What were they thinking putting it up against two dreadful but high rating shows like MKR and The Block?

Sadly I see SYTYCD being shafted over to Eleven next week and we’ll see repeats of Modern Family again.

The dumbing down of Australian TV audiences is almost complete.

Seriously MKR rates that high when all it shows is people bitching about one another?

  16. R.I.P. SYTYCD. I thought TEN wasn’t going after the younger demographic any more, so why have this show, especially after Everybody Dance Now flopped?

  17. So what did we learn today:

    * Winter Olympics is a hit for mulitchannels – maybe not that great for TEN

    * The bogans forgot to press “Up” on their remote controls last night to watch a movie about their idol Corby

    * So You Think You Can…?

  18. Oh dear. The return of SYTYCDA has been beaten by MKR, INXS, and The Block: Fans v faves. That is going to hurt this show so much. I don’t know what is going to happen right now. Perhaps move the show to Eleven. Or even put SYTYCD on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
