Tonight on “Your ABC” under Tony Abbott

Video: Coming soon to your ABC? Late Pyne and Miss Bishop's Diplomacy Mysteries....

What kind of programming would the ABC have if PM Tony Abbott had his way?

How about Late Pyne with new host Christopher Pyne and Miss Bishop’s Diplomacy Mysteries?

Sorry I can’t reveal who is behind these clever spoofs. But no doubt they’ll be content to know their work is appreciated.

  1. The utmost reason why Abbott and LNP Ltd should not hold creative control of the ABC programming department. The satirical but frightening titles scream ‘leftist extermination.’:

Please Hate Him – Josh Thomas’ new queer hating sequel to his international pro-gay hit series ‘Please Like Me.’ Josh denounces his homosexual lifestyle and prolongs his family’s dysfunction irks with depressive, grotesque Christianised comedic catchphrases.

Or have Piers Akerman or Miranda Devine taking over ‘Media Watch’ so to appease the staunch Liberal, National politically-minded nationalists with degrading left-wing journalists and suppress, attack, bemoan and mock news programs, bloggers and commercial/independent radio networks who idolised and behold pro-leftist idiosyncrasies.

  2. @trev
That could then lead to a sequel titled,’ How to Undermine Aussie Workers, with $2.00/day Slave Labour’
    @Gaz
And exactly explains why Shaun Micallief sits in a hole in the middle of a round desk.

@jezza the first original one 12.07 pm
    ” left v right etc.” ?
But you seem to have forgotten about the right side side of things in that comment, so in the interest of balance.
What about ‘Two Faced Tony’, lets not miss ‘Back Flip Barnaby’ or ‘ Ute Gate Malcolm’ and we all know how many employers embraced ‘Work Choices’ well they are going to love Tony’s new version called ‘Hobsons Choices’
Left right left right, is the world wide accepted Marching Order, and does this explain how easy some quickly get out of step, if they always only lead off with the right?
@Hardcore Pawn… and they forget its the public purse paying for Tony’s Dorothy Dix visits.

  3. Speaking of pisstakes, try and find a local radio station which broadcasts How Green Is my Cactus each day, a 2-3 minute satire mostly around the government of the day. Very clever and funny stuff, mostly voiced by Keith Scott and Robyn Moore. It’s on 3AW between about 5.10-5.20pm and 2UE, whenever – at least.

And a horribly out of date website – cactus.com.au/radio.htm

  4. To the critics posting comments: to borrow a mantra so beloved of the right, often when defending the likes of Bolt, Jones et al, this website is “not paid for from the public purse”.

David can put what he likes on his site, you’re not obliged to read it.

As for these clips: brilliant, laugh-out-loud stuff, but let’s hope they’re not a taste of things to come for either of the public broadcasters…

  5. @ Wiil and MJL

Being politically to the right, I don’t have a problem with this. Its a piss take, thats what happens to govts, a healthy disrespect. And if you put some effort in you can also have a good go at the barmy hapless left or the madness of the greens….folks, lighten up and wade in…

Sons & Daughters of Anarchy a new drama piloting on ABC featuring union sponsored ALP bikie gang members and their activities

  6. @Will902 HAH! decreased the quality of the blog, are you mad? an attack on the National Broadcaster and David is supposed to say silent, we would be asking why he hasn’t reported it and then political satire that’s relevant and David’s not supposed to post it. Well Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Will902’s 1984.

  7. @ Will902,

For God’s sake lighten up mate. I wonder if your comments would have been the same if it had been Shorten’s ABC?
It’s called satire, or as many Australians would say, “Taking the piss.”

    1. Suggesting my site has “turned into a political blog” overlooks the fact I have frequently weighed into this arena, so I’m unclear how exactly it’s “turning” all of a sudden. ABC / Abbott Govt issues are on the table and have been reported at length.

But FYI here are a few archival posts variously praising / criticising leaders from both sides -with humour- as far back as 2007.

There’s more where that came from but Search is available for all, thanks.

  8. It’s your blog David and you can run it however you wish.

That being said, as this blog is prominent within the industry I should hope that it doesn’t lean towards one side of politics or the other. Unfortunately your reporting of Abbott’s comments re: ABC and this populist Youtube drivel has, to my mind, greatly decreased the quality of this blog.

I’ll gladly continue reading your programming news and in-the-know scoops, after all that is what you excel in and are good at. Please, stick to what you do best and not what gets you a few political kicks.

    1. Thanks Will. Opinions always welcome. In regards to the Abbott / ABC issue, you’ll see a number of articles on the site on the topic, including Media Watch reporting that ABC was wrong. But I’ve always embraced a sense of humour and across the 7 years of the site, you will find both sides of politics have come under that spotlight. Comments always go beyond my personal view, but in moderation it’s always about whether they fall under Comments Policy guidelines so some don’t always meet this criteria. For me this clip fell safely under satire in the same way a newspaper cartoon would. Thanks.

  9. Heaven forbid the shows we would have had under that ol meglomaniac Kev Rudd or Monotone Julia Gillard.

How about a documentary about the life of Bill Shorten, it could be called Backstabber, better still make it a kids show called Bungalow Bill (nothing upstairs)

Then there could be a drama about the adult personal sevices industry…can’t mention who would feature as a heavy user in this as it could get blocked in the courts.

we could go on left v right etc, they all have their hands dirty and make huge policy gaffes, I just think the left make the worst ones

  10. You forgot “Work School”. Where Humpty Dumpty’s disability pension is cut and he’s forced to work for the dole. Big Ted loses the carers pension for little Ted and Gemima stays home and looks after the kids.

  11. “So you Think You Can Be Prime Minister”, “North Shore Now”, “Mr Abbott’s Policy Mysteries”. Tony Abbott would be good hosting “Latewhine” too and give Christopher Pyne the lead in a new series of “Prance Academy”. The possibilities are endless.

  12. Thanks David and the mystery contributor, these programs would of course only be temporary fill ins, prior to the ABC and its entire staff of 10 being relocated to broadcast from Cabbage Tree Island, located just off Port Stephens in NSW.
It also seems that Mr Abbott’s chief of staff Peta Credlin, has been one of us enterprising Australians ‘ To Have A Go’ as hoped by Mr Abbot, where it seems she may have opened up her own Actors Academy, and has in fact already run a short course especially for her party colleagues, on “How To Keep a Straight Face At All Times”
After seeing Mr Hockey being interviewed by Leigh Sales on the 7.30 report last week, and when asked if any inquiry into the Construction Industry should also include employers and companies etc, it was obvious that Mr Hockey was Dux of this short course, when with his ‘ Straight Face On’, he promptly replied ‘…

  13. What about Mine your own business with Gina Hancock? Top show.

At last, we can finally replace those rotten, meaningless Logies with our very own Tony awards.
