Writer, director, performer Harold Ramis, best known as one of the original Ghostbusters team, has died, aged 69.
He died from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, which is a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels, according to his wife Erica Mann.
Ramis’ film credits included Stripes, Meatballs, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, National Lampoon’s Animal House, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Analyze This and Analyze That, mostly as writer or director.
But he also had television credits, directing 4 episodes of The Office, wrote Extreme Ghostbusters and The Real Ghost Busters series, and wrote and acted in the sketch shows SCTV and SCTV Network.
He also produced TV movies The Inspector General, Will Rogers: Look Back in Laughter, The Top and The Rodney Dangerfield Show: It’s Not Easy Bein’ Me.

So much of my DVD collection is Harold Ramis movies. He certainly left behind some great movies that garner some big belly laughs. R.I.P.
