7 Comments:

  1. Well I notice Foyle’s War did very well for Ch 72. I’m glad. Also glad about the former The 7.30 Report doing alright.

I wish to thank the ABC for the News although I missed a bit. As well as Q&A and Lateline.

Also thank you to Eleven for Supernatural. I guess this week the disincentive was for Elementary. Also unfortunately I couldn’t offline my literacy skills so noticed that they had one against Blue Bloods on Ten. They don’t even advertise Blue Bloods on Eleven. Not that I think they should. Ironically most of the audience stick with the channel they are on. So it’s pointless harassment. But most of it is.

  2. And going on last years ratings Wolfie, there won’t be too many others bothering to watch a tired old cooking show that’s run its race and should have been axed last season.

Masterchef was launched by TEN in 2009 to cash in on the popularity of My Restaurant Rules that had been around on 7 since 2004. Masterchef itself had been showing in the UK since 1990, so when it had its Australian debut it could not be regarded as original, but a mere copy of an overseas show.

You may or may not recall there was a huge outcry about vote rigging during Season 1. There were denials all round, but some mud did stick. After its record breaking first year the ratings have been descending and this year will most certainly be its final showing.

    • Trev: Agree it will be very tough for Masterchef. Don’t agree it was cashing in on My Restaurant Rules. It was not really deemed a success and had ended in 2005 -that’s a long time in TV land. It was a bold move by David Mott, widely panned at the time, but the outcome is now well entrenched.

  3. @Bette… – Masterchef is the original show. It always started in April. Why should Ten shift it around just because 7 have a half carbon copy version with hyped up drama on air right now. At least they attempt to cook more than hamburgers on MCA. The difference between MCA and MKR is that they cook food closer to restaurant quality on Ten’s show.
On MKR’s they can’t even cook chicken – serve it up raw, more than half way through the competition – what a joke. I can’t wait for Masterchef to start to see real cooks.

  4. Channel 10 have some good shows, unfortunately they are up against other good shows on other networks at the same time and views tend to stick with them. If ten could have there good programmes on later in the week they may fare better with viewers as there does not seem to be as much competition then.

  5. bettestreep2008

Congrats Ten. You have officially stuffed up two shows that used to rate well;- Modern Family and Bondi Rescue.

Both these shows are being slaughtered by the woeful MKR and Block.

Ten should just stick movies up against these two shows for the next few weeks.

I’m also worried that it looks like they are planning to screen MCA very soon. Do they think people are going to watch another cooking show so soon after MKR?

Watch this space – MCA will rate even worse than it did last year.

  6. jezza the first original one

back to normal for ch10, they must put some serious money behind their F1 crew as that will give them a boost every 2-3 weeks….oh well..
