Airdate: Resurrection

Seven has confirmed Tuesdays for new US drama Resurrection, replacing Winners and Losers.

2014-03-17_1129Seven has confirmed the airdate for new US drama Resurrection at 8:45pm Tuesday March 25, replacing Winners and Losers.

It’s the first time in a long while that Seven hasn’t had an Australian drama in the timeslot. With the bun-fight amongst Aussie dramas across the week this could create a potential opportunity should someone decide to make the jump.

A Place to Call Home is likely to resume after Easter, potentially replacing Downton Abbey on Sundays.

Resurrection has elements of sci-fi in its tale when a young boy mysteriously awakens in a field in China, but whom we discover is American and died many years earlier. Reincarnation perhaps…?

Based on the book The Returned by Jason Mott (unrelated to French drama The Returned), it launched big in the US last week at 13.3m viewers. A second episode airs today.

Seven will follow Resurrection with the a double episode return of Parenthood.

Winners and Losers is expected to resume later in the year.

  1. I agree with ‘MuchoTB’ – I too was really looking forward to this, after seeing the promo’s (ages ago). Now after watching 2 Eps, I am not that interested anymore. I know we should not compare it to ‘The Returned’, which was brilliant – but since they have both the same theme – this American version sorta sucks.

  2. I saw the ads confirming this. They make it look interesting. I don’t know if it’ll last. I do commend the people responsible for the ads in the ad break. Excellent choice of song too.

  3. I enjoyed the first episode of this show but the second episode sucked. This series is similar to ‘Under the Dome’..great premise and promising pilot, witb lacklustre follow – up. I predict 1.5 mill for the firsy episode with a big drop in ratings by episode 4

  4. It won’t compare with The Returned/Les Revenants for atmosphere (or great soundtrack) but I’m sufficiently intrigued that I’ll check this out. It’ll have to be on catch-up as I don’t watch commercial FTA live anymore, plus I’m already committed to TR/LR and The Walking Dead on SBS2.

@Angela – that unsettling boy (“Vincent”) looks exactly like a friend’s son. I don’t turn my back on him now…

  5. Really looking forward to this one. Have heard good things about it too from my American friends. Good timeslot too. Plus its not a remake of The Returned. People seem to keep thinking that.

  6. Sometime back ..I saw one ad…on 7TWO saying Resurrection in 2 weeks…just the once…I thought it was going to be fast tracked…rather like that TEN sci fi series, The Dome…apparently not.

  7. This series looks very interesting and the acting from the previews look first class looking forward to this. It’s time for winners and loosers to finish up I think…

  8. The promos for this show have totally put me off. It looks a right load of crap that will endlessly drawn out of many weeks. I think it flop and get dumped very quickly….just imo

  9. Like the promo’s for this series, looks interesting, think you have to watch a few episodes to understand the storyline and characters so will give it a try.

  10. Looking forward to this one.
Though I wonder if it can favourably compare to the brilliant The Returned which has a similar theme.
TR is absolutely compelling , atmospheric viewing – thanks David, for putting me onto this excellent French thiller series.
That little boy is incredibly unsettling…
