American Horror Story: Freak Show for season 4

Updated: Ryan Murphy has confirmed earlier chatter that Season 4 will centre around a carnival freak show.

2014-03-25_1150Ryan Murphy has confirmed earlier chatter that American Horror Story‘s fourth season will centre around a carnival freak show.

American Horror Story: Freak Show follows the previous Murder House, Asylum and Coven settings for the anthology series.

Murphy has previously announced that season four will take place in the 1950s, while writer Douglas Petrie was previously asked during a podcast, if the series would be set in a spooky carnival.

“Very roughly, that’s the idea,” he replied.

Season Four is also poised to be the final season for Jessica Lange.

Additional casting announcements have not yet been made but cast and creators are due to appear at a PaleyFest panel on March 28, so expect more news to trickle out then.

UPDATE: EW reports:

Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, Freak Show finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S. Her group of “unusuals”? Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy all play performers whom Lange’s character has rescued; Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return. Freak Show’s 13 episodes will track this group as they do anything to keep their business around.

  1. This one sounds real interesting. I only started watching the show when coven started and during it’s break during the holidays, I went and watched the previous two within a couple of days!

  2. Jessica Lange and Frances Conroy have been fabulous in this but felt last season was becoming a bit tired and lacklustre.
Perhaps time to put this to bed…
