Glee turns 100

While Glee doesn't hit the dizzying heights of its early seasons the show has still been ground-breaking.

2014-03-19_2350Tomorrow night ELEVEN screens the 100th episode of Glee.

While the show doesn’t hit the dizzying heights of its early seasons -either in audience or creativity- the show has still been ground-breaking, and not just for making music dramas cool again.

As co-creator Ryan Murphy tells Variety: “I wanted to do something that was lighter and more optimistic,” he explains of his primary intention. He is proud of the fact that the small screen sensation, which Murphy said last October will not go beyond its sixth season, has helped to shape a global landscape of tolerance and acceptance among adolescents, giving encouragement to the LGBT community in a way that, arguably, no other TV series has done before.

“‘Glee’ is incredibly diverse and inclusive of people who didn’t see themselves represented in television shows before it,” says co-creator Ian Brennan. “It’s showing a new generation of kids to a new generation of kids.”

Glee celebrates its 100th episode with the original members of New Directions reunite at McKinley to recreate some of their most beloved performances & reflect on the history of the Glee Club.

Starring: Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison.

7:30pm Friday on ELEVEN.

  1. It is sad to watch that series now. Sad to see how the artistic and visionary elements of the series has slowly declined. Pity they couldnt go out on episode 100, but seems they are pushing it on for another year and a half-one wonders how and more specifically -why. ??!! Characters that were once endearing and now irritating and over exposed. A perfect example of a series not knowing when to leave. Eleven also keeps changing its time, not that it matters as there is clearly no one watching anyway.
