Tenplay launches Android app

TEN releases a tenplay app for Android phones, with a tablet app on the way.

tplayTEN has now released a tenplay app for Android phones, adding to its current i0S platform.

Users will have access to streaming TEN, ELEVEN and ONE content on-demand, straight after they have appeared on television, as well as real-time viewing, with live streaming of news and sporting events.

The app also offers personalised playlists, alerts, reminders and TV Guide.

TEN reports more than 500,000 tenplay apps downloaded for i0S over the past five months, separate from its TEN Eyewitness News, Sochi 2014 On Ten and tenplay Xbox One apps.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer Android users the tenplay experience,” said TEN Chief Digital Officer, Rebekah Horne.

“Since it launched last year, tenplay has been an immediate hit with consumers, who have recognised it as one of the best digital entertainment platforms in Australia.

“tenplay extends the traditional television watching experience by offering personalised, cross-platform content delivery, designed with the user experience as the top priority. It’s the perfect catch-up platform, giving people a way to access our content wherever and whenever they choose.”

An app for Android tablets will be available later this month.

A tenplay app is also in development for Windows phones.

  1. I hope it actually plays videos. On the multiple Apple devices we have at home, none of them can actually watch anything on the app (the ads load fine)

  2. I use TenPlay quite a bit and it’s probably just as good as iView, I don’t mind the odd ad or two but it’s irritating to have to sit through the same ad multiple times, sometimes repeating 2-3 times in a row.
