This year, Thursdays have proven to be among the better-performing nights for Nine and last night was no different, even without The Footy Show (AFL). No doubt it is aided by the absence of a certain cooking show in play.
Leading the pack was The Block at 1.43m. For most of this week the show has enjoyed its highest episodes all season, an encouraging sign as it rolls towards its finale the week after next.
Nine network won the night with a share of 31.6% then Seven 28.9%, ABC 19.7%, TEN 14.7% and SBS 5.1%.
Nine News was 1.16m / 1.06m for Nine then A Current Affair (965,000), Hot Seat (666,000), The Block Unlocked (468,000 in 3 cities) and The Footy Show NRL (364,000 in 2 cities). A movie New Year’s Eve was 188,000 in 3 cities.
Seven will not be happy that it could not manage the magic million. Might have done better with a Resurrection replay. Seven News was 983,000 / 909,000 then Home and Away (791,000), Border Security (791,000 in 3 cities), AFL (488,000 in 3 cities), Million Dollar Minute (450,000), Bones (397,000 in 3 cities). Tricked was 201,000.
ABC News (851,000) led ABC1 and there were great numbers for The Checkout (823,000). Janet King even won its slot at 772,000, above 7:30 (729,000). Trust Me I’m a Doctor was 369,000.
TEN Eyewitness News (579,000) was best for TEN followed by The Project (482,000 / 346,000), SVU (482,000 / 364,000) , The Bold and the Beautiful (430,000) and So You Think You Can Dance Australia (333,000).
Exploring China (275,000) topped SBS ONE then Gourmet Farmer (259,000), Mexican Fiesta (231,000), SBS World News (117,000) and The Escape Artist (106,000).
Big Bang bested multichannels at 298,000.
Nine’s Afternoon News: 286,000
Seven News at 4:30: 233,000
Seven News at 4: 227,000
Nine News Now: 162,000

well if its rating so well why do they have to pollute the programming with their encore editions?? sick to death of encore editions of this & other shows taking up viewing time for whole afternoons etc on the weekends, now its started to creep into weeknights too. I mean really, how many people are unable to record it so need an encore. Ok i could put a dvd on or something but often i like something on in the background while im doing other stuff. Just want these ‘reality’ shows to go away!!
The Checkout…Janet King….Love ’em both.
Janet King last night…did not see that one coming…Wow!
What has happened to Ten? Ten’s SYTYCDA is such a trash show that this show needs to be axed this year. Channel 10, please bring back Master Chef.
Wow 7 really don’t care much for Bones anymore do they! Shunted around so many times due to other focuses.
Really happy Janet King is going well loved last nights episode, really feel for Ash (Janet’s Partner).
good to see how the afternoon news are rating across the board.
Great ratings for the Block. Would be interesting on how the Final ratings in the coming weeks.
SYTYCD should be rating more on Thursdays.
Agree with Bogues. JK did well but was 3rd in slot.
Don’t forget split Programming DK.
The splits are detailed throughout the story, no forgetting.
Janet King was brilliant last night, as always. I have joined a facebook group called the Janet KIng / Crownies Appreciation Society 🙂
Janet King only won its timeslot because Seven and Nine had split programming last night because of Thursday night AFL.
Typo: “Nine network won the night with a share of 31.6% then Nine 28.9%”
