Andy Park reports on Australia’s oldest cross-dressing club, a world full of heartbreak, isolation, happiness and joy.

2014-03-11_2030Tomorrow night on SBS 2’s The Feed reporter Andy Park gains unprecedented access to Australia’s oldest cross-dressing club, a discreet world full of both heartbreak, shame, and social isolation, as well as happiness and joy.

Park met with several members of the Seahorse Society for The Feed’s longest feature report to date.

“I’ll never tell my wife about this room. My double life would surprise a lot of people I know. Like a chameleon, I can transform,” cross-dresser Terri explains to The Feed.

As Australia’s oldest cross-dressing society, the Seahorses have provided an outlet for men who at times have been misunderstood by everybody else in their lives. Their membership today sits at around 140, with a cross section of doctors, lawyers, truck drivers, politicians, pilots and teachers among them.

Several members of the Seahorse Society lead a secretive double life. Many wives, children and workmates are kept in the dark. Terri one of the founding members even has a secret wardrobe with women’s clothing collected over the decades, now estimated to be worth over $100,000.

In addition to this feature a website has been created to further allow audiences to discover the stories of the Seahorse Society members.
