BBC Four picks up The Code

Following sales to the US, Scandinavia and Latin America, ABC1's upcoming conspiracy drama is set for BBC Four.

2014-04-13_0127Upcoming ABC conspiracy drama The Code has made another international sale, this time to BBC Four.

The deal, which was closed lastweek at MIPTV, follows sales of the Playmaker Media series to  the Sundance Channel in Latin America, The Audience Network in the US and Denmark’s public broadcaster DR.

Created by Shelley Birse, The Code tells the story of two very different brothers who unearth information that those at the highest levels of political power will kill to keep secret. It stars Lucy Lawless, Adam Garcia, David Wenham and Aden Young.

“Following the success of The Bridge II and Salamander, both of which attracted audiences of over 1m an episode, I’m delighted to welcome another action-packed thriller to the channel, this time from the striking landscape of Australia – reinforcing BBC Four’s reputation as the home of the best international drama”, said Cassian Harrison, BBC Four’s Channel Editor.

Sue Deeks, the BBC’s Head of Programme Acquisition, added: “The Code is an intelligent and compelling thriller with a top-notch cast in a spectacular landscape – it has all of the ingredients that BBC Four viewers love.”

The series is tipped for a June premiere on ABC1.
