Exec changes at Nine

Nine's acquisition exec Les Sampson moves to new video-on-demand service, StreamCo Media as Hamish Turner is promoted.

nine hqNine has made some exec changes ahead of a new video-on-demand service, StreamCo Media.

Les Sampson, who has previously held the acquisitions role at Nine, is moving to StreamCo Media as director of acquisitions. Hamish Turner who has previously held the role of multichannel programmer replaces Sampson as director of acquisitions,  responsible for all content acquisition for Nine, GO! and GEM.

StreamCo Chief executive Mike Sneesby said,  “Les is a terrific addition to the team, bringing with him many years’ experience both at Nine and on the local and international stage, as well as the very best contacts from television and film around the globe. Les will join our content acquisition manager Alison Hurbert-Burns who is back on deck this week, after a solid week in Cannes wrapping up deals at MIPTV.”

Nine programming and production Andrew Backwell  added: “We congratulate Les on this move and feel confident he will add important skills to this growing business.”

Of Hamish Turner’s promotion, Backwell commented: “I congratulate him on this new role and look forward to working with him in this important area of our business, I know the distributors and producers will find him a pleasure to deal with.”

Geoff Dyer now heads up multichannel scheduling for GO! and GEM, while Adrian Swift who is currently the director of development at Nine will expand his role to now include director of development and digital.

StreamCo Media is expected to debut in September with TV series and library movies. Nine Entertainment Co. and Seven West Media said to be partners in the venture.  Its head of content is Nick Forward, who joined in January from Virgin Media in the UK.
