Kylie quits The Voice UK

"Due to timing of my tour I won't be back next season for The Voice UK," says Kylie Minogue.

2014-04-12_0127Kylie Minogue has quit as a coach on The Voice UK after just one season.

“Due to timing of my tour I won’t be back next season for The Voice UK,” she wrote on Twitter. “Thanks to all who supported!”

“I absolutely loved my time on the show, and I’ll miss all of the incredible people who were a part of my experience.”

Although the third series of the talent show enjoyed a ratings spike during the audition stages, peaking with 9.41m viewers, the live final was the least successful yet. Minogue’s finalist Jamie Johnson, was eliminated in the first round of phone voting.

Moira Ross, executive producer at production company Wall To Wall, said: “Kylie has brought her own very special magic to The Voice UK and we have loved having her on the show.

“We wish her well for her tour and hope to welcome her back in the future.”

The Voice UK lost its original judges Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue last year, with Minogue and Ricky Wilson as their replacements.

There’s no word yet if her fellow panellists Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson and will.i.am will return for the fourth series next year.

Minogue’s Australian season on The Voice will begin later this month alongside will.i.am, Ricky Martin and Joel Madden. By all accounts she has been loving her stint here, but now all eyes will be on whether it lasts for more than one season.

  1. Kate Blanchett can sing as much as the winners on the voice. So she would be good enough. She’s got a “bloody” Oscar too! Doesn’t this sound tempting?

  2. The Aussie version judges appear to be better than the UKs. Joel is the star because he adds humour and that loosens the other judges up a bit and it then becomes fun.

  3. @marc…. Cate wouldn’t be good… You have to at least know something about singing.

When I read tour I was like yay…. I just wonder when it will be here.

  4. Agree with Marc. Our Aussie stars come back to cash in or perhaps when their careers are not going so well overseas and hoping that this will give them kick start but somehow it doesn’t seem to work, don’t know if the Aussies don’t really forgive them for abandoning us in the first place, these artists say they “Call Australia Home” but cant wait to leave our shores in the first place.
