As first revealed by TV Tonight, Q & A will be in China next week, the same week Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Trade Minister Andrew Robb travel there as part of a major diplomatic and business exchange with Asia.
A live studio audience of Australian and Chinese citizens will ask the questions of interest to both Chinese and Australian viewers – including the relationship between the two countries, the changing global role of China and some of the economic and political challenges it currently faces.
Q & A Shanghai is a co-production between ABC TV, ABC International and its partner Shanghai Media Group.
Joining host Tony Jones on the panel will be:
Former Ambassador to China Dr Geoff Raby;
Businesswoman and media executive Mei Yan;
Program Director Greenpeace East Asia Ma Tianjie;
Television Presenter Cheng Lei; and
Chinese Australian artist Guo Jian.
It will air live on ABC1 and ABC News 24 on Monday 7 April at 9.35pm AEST. It will also be broadcast in China on International Channel Shanghai (ICS) on Sunday 13 April with Chinese subtitles.
