Spooky Psycho prequel Bates Motel, which stars Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore, is getting a third season.
“The incredible writing team and talented Bates Motel cast has made this series one of the most compelling original dramas on television,” A&E network executive vice president and general manager David McKillop. “The brilliant twists and turns of the past two seasons keep its loyal fan base coming back for more. We are so proud of the show.”
Including timeshifted numbers, the second season premiere has earned 4.6 million US viewers, and is the network’s top-rating drama in the 18-49 demo.
The current season is scheduled to run through until early May and airs in Australia on FOX8.

Great it is the only american series that i have been able to get into hopefully fox 8 will fast track it like they did with series 2
I think season two has picked up further. I’m really liking how this is developing. My expectations weren’t high but I’m loving the modernisation.
Series 1 was intriguing. Series 2 has dropped the ball. Turgid, no longer creepy, more like a soap. Series 3….why?
Made it up to S1 Ep 5 and just lost the will to keep watching.
But congrats to the ex-Lost dude who’s the show runner here.
I enjoy this show, but not always sure why. It is not my usual cuppa! I do love Vera Farmiga – just a fascinating actress to watch. Freddie Highmore is also quite a talent and a perfect Norman. Some of the B and C storylines are a bit ho hum.
