HBO has renewed two comedy titles, following its two-season renewal for Game of Thrones.
Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as the Vice President, wins a fourth season following its Season Three US premiere of just under one million viewers. But the show also attracts award nominations which seems to carry more cachet with execs in the US when it comes to renewal time.
New comedy Silicon Valley wins a second season after its season premiere of 2 million viewers. On the back of Game of Thrones it was HBO’s biggest comedy launch since Hung‘s 2.8 million in 2009.
Both comedies improve across HBO platforms, this week netting an additional 1.6m viewers for their second episodes in PVR and catch-up.
While HBO did not renew Hello Ladies, it has previously renewed Looking and Getting On.
Both Veep and Silicon Valley currently air in Australia on Showcase and Comedy Channel respectively.

Any word on HBO renewing True Detective for a second season? I would have thought it would have been a forgone conclusion but perhaps not.
