Cricket commentators Adam Gilchrist, Mark Waugh and Damien Fleming will return for TEN's Big Bash League.

2014-04-04_0120Cricket commentators Adam Gilchrist, Mark Waugh and Damien Fleming will return for TEN’s Big Bash League for 2014-15.

They will join former team-mate Ricky Ponting in the commentary box.

TEN Head of Sport, David Barham, said: “The KFC T20 Big Bash League beat all our ratings targets in 2013-14 and to have Adam, Mark, Damien and Ricky back for another year is a coup for Network TEN.

“You only have one chance to make a good impression and we worked hard to ensure our inaugural KFC T20 Big Bash League broadcast was a first-class television experience for viewers.”

Adam Gilchrist said: “I am very excited to be back for another season of the KFC T20 Big Bash League with TEN, Mark, Damien and Ricky.

“The success of the League last season shows that T20 cricket has a prominent place on the cricket calendar and is popular with cricket fans of all ages. I have no doubt that Network TEN will continue to grow the game and enhance the broadcast for fans around the country.”

  1. I’ll out myself as an Andy Maher fan. Not sure he should be ‘head’ commentator, but he’s a handy host. Ponting was fantastic for mine.

@Rutzie Please don’t make us suffer more of the unbearable Julian/Blewett combo.

  2. @kennojay the IPL starts in two weeks. So far, only a third of the tournament has actually been fixtured!!
So it would be very premature for Network 7 to announce they’ve secured the rights when there’s question marks over the tournament itself.
I’ve heard the same 7mate/IPL rumours but now that they have the Gaelic football there (same sorta timezone I believe) I’m beginning to think the IPL on 7mate isn’t happening.

  3. If you set your targets low enough you can achieve amazing success.

With the average 800k ratings they will be able to make a profit on the BBL next season. And there’s not a lot making money at Ten right now.

Will be interesting to see if the lack of an Ashes series helps them or hinters them by reducing interest in cricket in general.

  4. @Shoudy Chen, you can’t be serious. He was terrible and don’t get me started on Andy Maher. Hopefully Ten sign Brendon Julian and Greg Blewett to replace those two.

  5. Please bring back Mark Howard to the BBL 04 commentary. He is a fantastic commentator from BBL03 season.
Tens BBL03 ratings have been quite decent in 2013-14 season. If ten can increase viewership in the BBL04 season, then Channel Ten will become a strong TV network.
