TEN to air interview with former cellmate of Schapelle Corby

Updated: TEN Eyewitness News and The Project will air a world exclusive interview with a former cell mate of Schapelle Corby.

sce-corbyHere we go again…

Schapelle Corby is about to be catapulted back into the spotlight when TEN Eyewitness News and The Project air a world exclusive “explosive interview” with a former cell mate.

Filmed in an Indonesian jail, this Special Report contains startling revelations about the events that led to Schapelle Corby’s arrest for drug smuggling in 2004 and her conviction in 2005.

Schapelle Corby has always maintained her innocence. But what secrets will be revealed by her former cell mate? Did Schapelle Corby know about the drugs in her boogie board bag? Was it the first time she had smuggled drugs into Indonesia?

Do not miss the extraordinary interview that could change what Australians think about the Schapelle Corby case.

Could be a sign that News boss Peter Meakin is exerting his creativity at TEN, which will make things interesting.

Part of the interview will also air during Charlie Pickering’s final night on The Project.

TEN has confirmed the interview is with Renae Lawrence who answers the following questions:

*What was it like living with Corby? It must have been hard sometimes, considering everything?

*Eight years is a long time to know each other. Did she ever tell you secrets? Or do you know any of her secrets?

*Doesn’t she know that she’s very lucky to be free?

*Was there anything else she told you?

  1. TV today…..You make some good points….but to accuse David of “endlessly promoting broadcasts that are immoral and abusive” makes your comment Immoral.

The use of the word “endlessly” is a joke….and makes you a joke.

Yes the program mentioned might be what you say but there in no need to be abusive to David. He is simply making people aware of the program and was not reviewing it.

  2. Why do you endlessly promote broadcasts which are abusive and immoral?

This is a paid interview with a desperate prisoner in a third world jail who will say anything for the money. It is exploitation.

Further, it abuses another woman who is gagged, whose human rights are being breached because she has lost the right to free speech, to defend herself.

But TV Tonight thinks its a good idea to promote this?

Ten are now in the gutter. It is obscene. Why are you promoting their smears and lies?

    1. I don’t see any endorsement one way or the other of the interview? Maybe you hadn’t noticed, I run a blog about Television so I am constantly filing on television content and what networks are putting to air, especially in this section called Programming. That often includes all manner of interviews, content, specials and shows that may not personally interest me and even some which I personally disagree with. If you are unhappy with TEN proceeding with it, then you should take it up with TEN. As for this interview, I’ll judge it on its own merits if and when I see it and readers can make up their own minds. Based on most of the comments here, people are pretty sick of the subject, but we’ll know when the ratings are in on Tuesday and I will report on those too. I’ve done that for 7 years come rain, hail or stories in Bali.

  3. Don’t they realize they could hurt her and maybe send her back to jail? She is a person after all and didn’t really ask for this. They just need to leave her alone.

  4. So Ten is now hoping to hit paydirt with an exclusive based on a tenuous connection to a topic that wasn’t pulling viewers even at the height of the media frenzy, to be shown in awkward timeslots, on one of its worst days of the ratings week, several months after the topic was already off the boil?

  5. This is definitely Meakin’s influence.. it stinks of the stuff Seven/Nine have been dishing out for years. The downward slide of TEN’s News content into sensationalist territory begins..

  6. Why are we only given 3 days notice on this one….Not a full week of promos…..Only just seen the promo for this tonight(Friday)….with no mention of Eyewitness News. Just that it is on a 5pm Monday.

Has a feel of desperation about it!

  7. from the way the promos look it definitely has Meakin written all over it. I’ve also noticed The Project now finishes at 7:37, they go to an ad break at 7:32, that seems very Meakin as well. I’m sure Meakin’s changes will not be popular amongst TVtonight commenters, but these are the kind of things that win ratings.
