Discover Downunder turns 10 for Nine

Nine’s Saturday arvo caravanning and camping series celebrates 10 years on air.

2014-05-29_0025Nine’s Saturday arvo caravanning and camping series Discover Downunder celebrates 10 years on air, hosted by comedian Tim Smith and Olympian Brooke Hanson.

“I’ve swum with sharks at Port Lincoln, crocodiles in Darwin, sooty grunters (fish) on Hinchinbrook, leafies (seahorses) at the Yorke Peninsula and dolphins at Coffs Harbour,” says Smith.

“I’ve also swum with seals, eels, tuna, and Brooke Hanson. And just think about it – I get to go on holiday all year round, and the best part of all is the amazing people I meet along the way.

“My all-time favourite moment was when Catriona Rowntree was attacked by piranhas. No, wait, hang on – wrong show.”

The brand-supported series is part of Bauer Media.

Brooke Hanson added, “Our ‘must do’s’ always include having a chicken parma at one of the local pubs so we can let our viewers know the best places to eat while they’re on the road. In the new series we visit some brand new destinations and the chicken parmas are the best we’ve ever eaten.

“It’s by far our best ever series, and with each new destination I always pinch myself and take a moment to appreciate just how lucky we are. I always tell everyone I’ve got the best job in the world.”

4:30pm Saturdays on Nine.
