Maria Menounos exits Extra

Extra co-host Maria Menounos is out of the US entertainment show following speculation she clashed with Mario Lopez.

But Menounos has signed a multi-year deal with E! to host her own one-hour entertainment newsmag series, Untold with Maria Menounos. It will cill cover such gripping topics as Gen Y royals, the rise of heroin in Hollywood, the popularity of electronic dance music and the rise of reality stars. Each episode will comprised three individual stories, as well as additional segments.

Deadline reports E! has signed a first-look deal with her production company, Underman/Omegagirl Prods.

In March New York’s Page Six speculated Menounos’ contract wasn’t being renewed, quoting an unnamed source saying, “Maria and Mario barely even speak to each other.”

Extra has aired on Nine in Australia.
