Real Housewives’ real feud
Foxtel serves up a classic TV catfight as Real Housewives of Melbourne unleash on one another.

In my initial review of Real Housewives of Melbourne I noted that Matchbox Pictures had done an excellent job of casting.
I also said, somewhat unkindly, that empty vessels make the most noise.
Both of things have stayed true of this dramality show, as evidenced in last night’s volatile Reunion episode of the Arena show.
Where to start with this….?
It was, unequivocally, car-crash telly as catfights turned downright nasty. But that’s exactly what fans of this genre, so on that front Foxtel certainly delivered. “Insignificant arse-hair” as an insult will probably make end of year lists.
The drama in the show has spilled off-screen with this series, with legal threats, social media insults and publicists and producers exhausted from the people skills required to make it to the very end…
By now it’s pretty clear the show has splintered into the Gina camp vs The Rest. The barrister with the big hair didn’t hold back in telling her cast just what she thought of them (they gave as good as they got) and even the Producers came in for a serve. But fans appear to love her no-holds barred style and Dynasty traits. Take note, Dancing with the Stars.
Rather than me re-capping, here’s a snapshot of what viewers made of it all…
I haven’t been this excited for a TV show in a long, long time. #RHOMelbourne #RHOMReunion

I’ve come to really *love* @JackieGilliesTV. Everyone needs a girl like her in their lives #RHOMelbourne #RHOMReunion #shineshineshine — David Stevens (@TheDavidStevens) May 4, 2014
Obviously the public support for @Gina_Liano has swayed the producers editing #teamgina #RHOMReunion

The #RHOM reunion show is even more harrowing than another Foxtel show, Total Divas. Didn’t think anyone could talk over @AlexPerry007

Poor editing on #RHOMelbourne Reunion. How come there was no footage of Andrea & Lydia’s appalling behavior? Team @Gina_Liano all the way!!

@MrsAndreaMoss am glad you got to have your say. You’ve been copping a lot. Unfairly I might add. Gina showed her true colours!!! Not nice!

and earlier….
All this bs with the girls in #RHOM picking on @Gina_Liano like really? You’re grown women. Did we learn nothing from Charlotte Dawson?

And if that wasn’t enough Arena will do it all again next Sunday night with Pt. 2. Reowwwww!

This show perfectly illustrates what is wrong with ‘reality’ tv in so many ways, like yeah it was all impromptu & not scripted in any way..Not lol
It’s been interesting to see just how much mainstream press this show has gotten. Foxtel is in what – 30% of homes? It rates maybe a 500k over all it’s screenings but gets much more attention than shows that more people watch on free to air. We don’t get blogs in the herald-sun about what happens on Compass but more people watch that.
“Praising” is an interesting way to describe the post, Dans.
You cant be serious David? Praising brain-dead television? Its rubbish like this that has turned a majority of viewers off FTA TV because rich-drama queens acting like petulant children makes peoples brains hurt (for the wrong reasons). Maybe I am the minority, but with any luck Foxtel can produce more trash like this and hopefully the audience will respond by disconnecting in droves. God forbid we could have dramas, comedies or movie co-productions.
