But the drama by Starz Network will welcome a new showrunner replacing creator David S. Goyer, who will continue to serve as an executive producer.

In his place is John Shiban (Hell on Wheels, The X-Files).

“We’re excited to continue Leonardo da Vinci’s adventures with a third season of Da Vinci’s Demons with John Shiban joining the ranks,” Starz Managing Director Carmi Zlotnik said in a statement. “David S. Goyer’s vision of da Vinci’s journey continues to entertain fans, taking them deeper into the world of Da Vinci’s Demons, where there is still much more story to tell.”

Goyer added: “I’ve been a fan of John’s work for some time and I’m excited to add his voice to the mix.”

The show following a youthful Leonardo da Vinci (Tom Riley) airs in Australia on FX.

  1. @ Dayman.

Personally I enjoyed the first season, though almost all of da Vinci’s storylines have no basis in history.

Season 2 though has been very ordinary as a direct result of a key decision Goyer made which possibly explains why he isn’t showrunner anymore.
