Returning: A Place to Call Home

Seven asks media not to divulge a storytelling device for its returning drama ...but goes and does it with an amendment anyway.

Screen Shot 2014-05-05 at 11.47.44 am.jpgSeven’s hit period series A Place to Call Home returns this Sunday night from 8:40pm for its second season -and begins with a most unusual story move.

Interestingly, Seven has asked media not to divulge its storytelling device -however the network’s own programming amendment does it anyway. A case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing?

Over to you, Seven:

In present day Ash Park, elderly Sarah reveals the truth about Bert Ford’s death. Back in 1953, Sarah and Anna begin their respective trial periods in their new homes. Elizabeth announces a decision that stuns everyone. Jack’s furious at Carolyn for keeping their daughter a secret and vows to uncover her identity. Olivia is increasingly disturbed by James’ brutal hospital treatment.

Ironically the episode is called “No Secrets, Ever.”

8:40pm Sunday on Seven.

Updated: Seven has now issued an updated amendment:

In the season premiere, Jack is furious at Carolyn for having kept secret the fact they have a daughter. Sarah and Anna begin their respective trial periods in their new homes and Olivia is increasingly disturbed by James’ hospital treatment. Meanwhile, Elizabeth makes an announcement that stuns everyone.

  1. I have just read that there is not going to be a third series of APCH. I am astonished. This is one of the best Aussie shows on TV & the acting is great. What is wrong that we cannot seem to maintain good Aussie shows on Tv & are constantly subjected to so many US so called sitcoms

  2. David I wasn’t talking about the monetary price. Although the irony with the DVDs is I rarely obtain DVDs, or the like, on anything I haven’t watched previously. Mainly on TV; occasionally elsewhere. Plus I don’t record things because DVDs are more reliable. As well the as limited time available to watch stuff.

So I choose DVD. Although live TV comes first. Until I can’t watch it anymore because of my unfortunate weakness. I wish I could be like everyone else and just be annoyed and want to replace or bypass TV because of annoyance rather than weakness.

Although really I just want to watch TV first then buy the DVD. In that order. But you can’t always get what you want. Including wanting to watch TV.

  3. “A case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing?” – as is too often the case at 7, 9 and 10. What’s that one about “too many cooks spoil the…”? Would have been far better just to promote that “Jack’s furious at Carolyn for keeping their secret”. This seems to be a constant problem with 7 promos. Home and Away showed ‘who didn’t die’, MKR results, and other things on far too many occasions.
