The Footy Show (AFL): May 28

The Footy Show AFL is airing tonight, including with a 10pm start in Melbourne.

2013-09-22_2134The Footy Show AFL is airing tonight due to a Thursday night match tomorrow, but with State of Origin also on, it won’t air until 10pm tonight in Melbourne, 9:30pm in Adelaide and 8:30pm in Perth (where Origin screens on GEM).

It was a footy fairytale. In his first game since the 2008 Grand Final, Shane Crawford lifted South Australia’s Aldinga Sharks to their first win of the year. Despite having an average losing margin of 167 points this year, the AFL Hall of Fame inductee was able to steer the Sharks to a stunning 38-point win. And didn’t the 5000-strong crowd love it. See all the on and off-field highlights on The Footy Show tonight after State of Origin on Channel Nine.

Sam Newman and Billy Brownless also made the trip over to Shark Park. Sam stepped up to the mic to perform the national anthem and Bill took it upon himself to keep the crowd in good spirits. Did Sam manage to remember the words? What happened at Billy’s sportman’s night? And how many goals did the Brownlow Medallist kick?

Garry Lyon also does his bit for local footy. Joining the Nissan Navara Tough Love Team, Gaz and Crawf travel to country Victoria to help out the former captain of the Heyfield Football Club, David Kelly, whose two-year-old daughter has recently been diagnosed with a serious medical condition. Not only do Garry and the boys transform the Kellys’ house, but they present them with a brand new Nissan X-Trail.

After Garry’s one-on-one with movie star Hugh Jackman last week, Sam decides he can do it better. Does the Fossil have what it takes?

Award-winning newsbreaker Damian Barrett has all the latest footy news, Bill presents a cracking edition of Almost Football Legends and we preview another great round of footy.
