US to try again on Supernatural spin-off

The CW passed on Supernatural: Bloodlines, but hasn't given up on a spin-off yet.

2014-05-16_0149.jpgSupernatural may get a spin-off after all with US network The CW confirming it is going back to the drawing board despite passing on Supernatural: Bloodlines.

Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, told media, “We believe that there’s a real brand in Supernatural.”

“We had six really good pilots this year. We felt that [Bloodlines] just didn’t quite get there, though we do know that people would come to it based on what we saw that night.

“I’ve already spoken to the creator and the studio. They know that we want to develop once more next season, a Supernatural spinoff. What it is and what it isn’t yet is still in the air.”

  1. I have to agree with the execs at CW there. I didn’t think that the ‘Bloodlines’ episode, which introduced the characters that would’ve been in the spin-off had it been greenlit, was a strong one.

With so many recurring characters there’s scope for a spin-off of that show (if they didn’t keep killing off so many interesting ones!), but I certainly would’ve lost interest quickly in a Bloodlines series.
