Giaan Rooney is back to weather presenting for Seven News following her maternity leave.

Giaan Rooney-9Giaan Rooney resumes presenting weather for Seven News Melbourne from tomorrow night, following her maternity leave.

In March she and husband Sam Levett welcomed their first child, Zander.

She will return to the weekend bulletin with Jennifer Keyte and Sean Sowerby while Jo Silvagni will remain on weeknights with Peter Mitchell and Tim Watson.

A Seven spokesperson told TV Tonight as a new mum, Rooney wanted to settle back in 2 days a week before contemplating anything more.

“I’m thrilled to be able to balance the joys and challenges of parenthood with the satisfaction of work and delivering the all-important weekend weather report,” Rooney said. “I can’t wait to get back into it, and I’m especially looking forward to working with Jen and Sean.”

News Director Simon Pristel said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Giaan back to the team, and she will only make the weekend bulletin stronger as she joins forces with Jen and Sean.”

  1. The best weather presenter in the whole of Australia has to be Jenny Woodwood on ABC1 Brisbane. Jenny has been doing the weather for over 25 years with exceptional knowledge and delivery.

  2. Could Giaan please also do Adelaide’s weather on Channel 7? I do not know who the girl is who replaced Melody Horrill, but she speaks like a number of young people I know – shrill, lazy and flat intonation. In my humble opinion absolutely not suitable to speak on TV in any capacity.

  3. Great. Been waiting for her to come back to replace Jo of whom is one of the few weather presenters that I don’t feel is quite the right fit.
