ITV to “rest” Law & Order: UK

Law & Order: UK is set to end, although ITV has not ruled out the possibility of a revival in the future.

2014-06-07_0028British legal drama Law & Order: UK is set to end next week, although ITV has not ruled out the possibility of a revival some time in the future.

The news follows Bradley Walsh leaving to pursue other opportunities.

“There may well come a time when we re-visit Law & Order: UK,” said ITV’s Director of Drama Commissioning Steve November. “For the moment we’ll be resting the series whilst we continue to refresh our drama slate.”

Executive Producer Jane Featherstone added: “It’s been a privilege for Kudos to produce Law & Order: UK over the last eight series. It’s success and huge audience appeal over all of these years is a testament to the cast, crew and production team who have worked tirelessly to bring such great drama to air.”

“Ronnie Brooks is one of my best friends. It’s been an absolute pleasure to inhabit Ronnie’s Mac for as long as I have. Eight series is a wonderful achievement for everyone involved in the production”, said Bradley Walsh. “This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I hope one day to revisit him, but for now I’d like the opportunity to pursue other drama projects which ITV are developing.”

Season Five (known as S8 in the UK) currently airs in Australia on Universal Channel.

  1. Another series that had been known to have “rested” was the BBC’s Doctor Who in 1989 and guess how long that took to come back.
