Police find a car driven by Kim Watkins was unregistered and put her in the back of a divvy van.

2014-06-12_1249Former 9AM with David and Kim presenter Kim Watkins was put in a police divvy van with her shopping and children after police discovered her car was unregistered.

Watkins, who has also been a guest presenter on The Project, told 3AW she had been picking up her kids when police pulled her over and advised her car was unregistered.

“I was just stunned, I couldn’t believe what I’d done and then he told me I was out of rego by two years,” she said.

“Then he took my plates. I was horrified because that means I had no insurance for two years.”

Despite asking for police to follow her home they noted the length of her unregistration.

Watkins said she piled into the back of the police van with her children and “quite a bit of shopping”.

“It’s quite hard to shove it all in the back of a divvy van with the children but we managed. My knees were up to my ears,” she said.

  1. How can this happen. She seems like an intelligent women. I know with kids and all that life is busy but this really goes under the What The category. She has been quiet lately so it should help her profile. Kim was really one of the best newsreaders around.

  2. Registration stickers, displaying the year in bold print, were only abolished this year. She didn’t see, for 2 years, that her label read “2011” or “2012”?
And she still wanted to drive her unregistered, uninsured car home?!
Lucky to be chauffeured home. Normally you make your own arrangements. In NSW she would have received at least 3 letters from the RTA.
