Origin gives Nine the week

Ratings: With Origin pulling the biggest audience of the year, Nine took its fourth ratings week.

1038The State of Origin record Game 1 last week averaged 2.51m viewers on Nine, and another 110,000 viewers on GEM in Perth.

Even without Timeshifted numbers (to be added later this week) it was the biggest audience of the year so far.

It was no surprise Nine took the ratings week, it’s fourth in a row.

TEN: 17.8
ABC: 16.6
SBS: 5.1

Origin scored 2.5m viewers for Nine with The Voice as high as 1.87m, The Big Bang Theory up to 1.29m and 60 Minutes at 1.25m.

House Rules hit 1.66m for Seven with Seven News (Sun: 1.39m), and What Really Happens in Bali (1.06m).

MasterChef Australia (Sun: 948,000) led TEN with other brands being Offspring (748,000) and Modern Family  (Sun: 700,000).

Best for ABC1 was ABC News (Saturday: 902,000), Call the Midwife (836,000) and New Tricks (815,000).

SBS missed the Top 100 this week but their best performer was Secrets of the Manor House at 377,000.

Nine won the key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Seven was first on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Nine took Sunday and Wednesday. ABC bettered TEN on Monday and Saturday, both tied for Friday.

Seven won Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Nine led Sydney and Brisbane.

  1. Using last week’s numbers for whatever show is usually in that timeslot, I’d be keen to know if 9 would have still won (& the margin) had State of Origin not been played this week .
