Pick of the US bunch from LA Screenings

New shows from the LA Screenings will start as soon as next month in Australia.

2014-06-08_0055A few more US titles have been confirmed for Aussie networks following the recent LA Screenings.

Nine has superhero series The Flash starring Grant Gustin plus Debra Messing’s The Mysteries of Laura.

“It’s very Columbo in terms of tone, with a crime of the week she solves,” said Nine Perth’s managing Director David Mott told the West Australian.

As previously reported Nine also has Kevin Williamson’s new psychological thriller Stalker

Also reported last month, Seven has Battle Creek from Vince Gilligan and David Shore, How to Get Away with Murder by Shonda Rhimes, The Whispers, Red Band Society and Marry Me.

TEN has Wayward Pines -presumably after it premieres on Foxtel- NCIS: New Orleans, Extant with Halle Berry.

TEN’s Beverley McGarvey tipped Extant would air next month.

“It turns out she is inexplicably pregnant and the show is a mix of family drama and mystery,” she said.

Seven’s Angus Ross said Australian networks were becoming less reliant on US content with Australian shows able to screen premiere content.

“It is like watching a live sporting contest combined with a soap opera in a way. You just keep coming back day after day. You can’t see it anywhere else,” he noted.

“A lot of this American programming is too freely available by other means before it gets here.”

  1. All the trailers for these shows look so broadcast network. Hard to get excited about any of them.

Extant looks like it will be this years sci fi one episode wonder in the footsteps of Flashforward, the event, terra nova, agents of shield.

  2. Nine’s current exclusive deal with WB runs until 2016 according to The Australian. So they get all the WB stuff.

It’s then question of whether they either onsell it to Fox8 or keep it and don’t show it.
