  1. @Poida, You have to start with the rundown house. There is no point having a renovation on a house that most people would think is fine anyway. Not all of the houses have been unlivable. The Sydney, Melbourne and Townsville houses were OK but needed a refresh.

It would be a marketing disaster is Channel 7 were seen to be renovating the beach house of a wealthy couple. The show would flop. It is similar to a Herald Sun win-a-house promotion about 15 years ago where the winner was a person with a million dollar house in Brighton who won a Jennings house which they built on their holiday block near the Geelong surf coast. After weeks of pre-publicity, the winner was announced in a tiny 2 paragraph article!!

  2. Problem with HR is they have to combine contestants that viewers will engage with that also have some renovating skills, a derelict house, and a tear jerker back story. Hence the working class tone of the show.

  3. is it a renewal or just a casting call? with 7 they are never one in the same. not that there is any doubt that it will be renewed.

I think the casting is pretty weak this year, there are no standout or memorable personalities. I think the show would be much better if it was cast more like MKR and TAR.
