2014-06-23_2034TEN has appointed John Choueifate, its Director of News in Sydney, as Network News Director.

Choueifate who joined TEN in 2013 following his role at Seven, will be responsible for TEN Eyewitness News in each state and the national weekend bulletin.

He will report to Executive Director of News and Current Affairs, Peter Meakin.

“I have worked with John at three separate networks and he thoroughly deserves this promotion. He is a fine journalist and an excellent manager,” said Meakin.

  1. With the recent announcement of staff redundancies, and more to follow, ten are well on their way to having a one-to-one correspondence between management and actual news-gathering journalists.

Ten would do well to have a look at a beehive to consider what happens when there are too many queen bees and drones, and not enough workers making honey (rhymes with money).

Nothing against Choueifate though. I’m sure he’ll do a fine a job at rearranging the deckchairs and reporting to Meakin – “no news is good news”, right?

  2. Here’s a thought Ten, stop wasting money on high paying managerial roles and use that money to retain top quality reporters/presenters. Meakin’s sitting around doing very little now that Ten only produce 7hrs of news bulletins a week, he hardly needs anymore millionaire sidekicks.
